about the client

A university committed to truth-telling and community leadership

The UWA School of Indigenous Studies is one of Australia’s most respected centres for Indigenous education, research and cultural engagement. Operating within the University of Western Australia, the School plays a pivotal role in amplifying Indigenous perspectives, fostering cultural understanding and empowering communities through knowledge.
This engagement centred on one of the most pressing and sensitive challenges facing communities across the nation — the wellbeing of Indigenous youth and the urgent need to raise awareness of the support systems available to young people navigating their toughest moments

From functional to exceptional

The Challenge

Addressing youth suicide within Indigenous communities requires far more than a communications plan. It demands deep cultural sensitivity, authentic representation, and a strategic framework that places Indigenous voices at the centre — not as subjects of the campaign, but as its leaders.

The UWA School of Indigenous Studies needed a partner who could develop a campaign that was both strategically sound and culturally responsible. The campaign had to reach Indigenous teens and their support networks across digital and social channels, without resorting to generic messaging or tone-deaf approaches that could do more harm than good.

Equally important was capacity building. For the campaign to have lasting impact beyond the initial engagement, Indigenous leaders needed to be equipped with the skills and confidence to own and continue the conversation themselves.

Our Approach

Clik Digital approached this engagement with two clear priorities: develop a campaign strategy that was culturally grounded and digitally effective, and deliver training that left Indigenous leaders genuinely empowered — not dependent on external agencies to maintain momentum.

We began with deep listening. Before any strategy was developed, we worked to understand the community context, the sensitivities involved, and the voices that needed to lead. From there, we built a campaign framework designed to meet young people where they are — on the platforms they use every day.

what we delivered

What We Delivered

Half-Day Strategic Training Session — UWA Campus

The centrepiece of the engagement was a facilitated half-day training session held at the UWA campus, attended by Indigenous leaders and UWA professors. This was not a lecture — it was a collaborative working session designed to build capability and confidence in equal measure.

We presented campaign concepts and multi-platform rollout strategies, covering digital and social channels most relevant to reaching Indigenous youth. We then moved into hands-on training, walking Indigenous leaders through the fundamentals of social media — how platforms work algorithmically, how to build an audience, and how to create content that connects authentically with their communities.

Practical demonstrations covered everything from content creation for TikTok and Instagram through to scheduling, engagement strategies and understanding platform analytics. Participants left not just with knowledge — but with the tools and confidence to act immediately.

Campaign Strategy — Multi-Platform Rollout

A comprehensive campaign strategy developed specifically for raising awareness of youth mental health and available support systems within Indigenous communities. The strategy covered:

Platform selection and content approach tailored to reaching Indigenous teens, channel-specific messaging frameworks to ensure consistency across digital and social touchpoints, a phased rollout plan enabling gradual community-led amplification, and culturally sensitive content guidelines to ensure the campaign remained authentic and empowering at every stage.

Social Media Marketing

Strategic guidance on organic social media execution across Instagram and TikTok — the primary platforms for reaching the target audience. Our approach prioritised authentic storytelling led by Indigenous voices, with Clik providing the strategic framework and technical know-how to bring those stories to life effectively.

Half-Day Intensive Hands-on, practical and collaborative — not a lecture

A campaign built on trust, led by community.

This engagement demonstrated something important: when strategy is grounded in cultural respect and delivered with genuine collaboration, digital campaigns can do far more than raise awareness. They can shift capability, build confidence and leave communities better equipped to tell their own stories long after the campaign concludes.
For Clik Digital, it was a reminder of why purpose-led work matters — and a privilege to contribute to a conversation as important as this one.
